Studio Space

Call me crazy, some do, but I moved my studio now fully into our front room.  It has the best light.  I pulled up the carpet to expose the cement and soon will stain it.  My SIL teases me that I've now worked in every room of our home.  That is almost true.  I haven't tried the kitchen dinning area and don't plan on it. 

 

 

I can't believe how great that top piece works that I got years ago for $5.00.  This time I tipped in on it's side and it works like a charm on top of my buffet.

 

Behind the white piece of furniture is our entry way.  I like that it closes in the room, making it my "space".

A cool old anvil I found years ago.

 

Bits of metal.  I have had the 80 piece for many years.  Maybe I'll put it on my birthday cake when I reach that ripe age.

 

 

Dolls and animals inspire me.

 

 

An old lace sample book my grandmother gave me when I was in my twenties.

 

Found these great cloth bins at Walmart for cheap.  They fit perfectly into my Pie Safe and stores lots of my fabrics and laces.

 

Willow hangs out with me while I work.  She loves the sunshine that comes through this westerly window.

A few new Boho Tool Belts

While in California last weekend I was able to attend my favorite Flea Market to hunt down some more vintage and antique laces.  It was a success so I was able to create a few more Boho Tool Belts.  You can find this one in my Etsy Shop.

This one has a new home.  I found a really cool vintage petty-coat slip in Venice Beach that I can now use for awhile in my belts.  I always need so many embellishments to keep me going.  It seems to be getting a little harder to find what I'm looking for these days.  I am quite particular in what I like to use in my creations.

As much as I love these and love wearing them, believe it or not, I don't even own one again.  Someone always wants the one I'm wearing so of course, I create to offer up.  I don't mind really and am so pleased that they are loved as much as I love them.

A trip to Venice

Venice, California that is, not Italy.  I moved to California forty years ago this year and never visited Venice.  The canals are beautiful, replicated from the ones in Italy.

 

 

I wanted to hop in one of these little boats and cruise the canal.

 

 

I had the pleasure of staying with my good friend, Renee Troy.  She is now the proud owner of this gallery "The Word is Art".

Renee has really done a beautiful job building her dream.

 

She is very talented artist.  I love this piece of hers.

Renee took my online "Paper Clay Workshop" and here is one of the birds she created. 

Love how she made it her own in those wonderful colors.

Gilding The Lily - A delightful journey

Saturday we gathered at Nancy's beautiful home in Fullerton, California, owner of Gilding The Lily to create my Olde Soul Dolls.

 

Such a lovely group of ladies.

 

Everyone did an amazing job.

 

Sweet Kim  Lemoine went home with one of my Boho Tool Belts and I  with one her wonderful purses.

 

Nancy's beautiful store, Gilding of The Lily.  If you love vintage everything, you will adore her store.  The East Coast has Tinsel Trading and we have this treasure trove.

 

Nancy is a warm, loving and talented woman.  I just love her.  She also has a wonderful husband, Alain.  Great memories of our evening together - still smiling!

 

Nancy makes these beautiful necklaces and earrings that I will forever cherish.

Charming Dolls

Laguna Beach and friends

I love to travel, no doubt, especially when it includes teaching and meeting up with old friends.  My first stop was to visit and stay with my dear dear friend, Cathleen LeVeque.  We have been friends since we were 21 years old. 



We had a beautiful evening sunset.

 

Cathleen will be teaching her beautiful bottle assemblage in May through Gilding The Lily.

 

You can at times find Cathleen working here - Areo - my favorite shop in Laguna.  It is located at 207 Ocean Avenue (corner of PCH and Ocean).  If you can't make it to the store, be sure to check out their online shop.
