Not sure why, but I do.  I like to put some splashes of red around my house.  I love Christmas, seeing red everywhere.  Wonder what that color means.  Anyone know?  I know they like to put it in restaurants, as it makes you want to hurry up and leave.  Hum...

Fiber Collage ART

Lots of artwork offered in my Etsy Shop.  This piece I dedicate to my dear friend, Jane's daughter, Claudia, aka, Pixie.  Please check out Jane's new blog.  She is promising to start really keeping it up.  I love this lady.  Met Jane a year ago at ART Is in Connecticut when she took my classes.  She is now forever in my life!!!  Just wish she didn't live across the country..sigh.  And I must add, a VERY talented artist!!!

Happy Birthday Mommy!

 

My mom would have been 78 years old today.  A young 78, she would have been.  But no, life had to take her away from us.  I'm still so very sad and still get angry at times.  I would do anything to have my mom back.  She was MY BEST FRIEND in the whole world.  We could laugh, share secrets, get silly, you name it.  My life will never be the same without you mom.  Will I ever really get use to the fact you are not here?  Oh, how you loved birthdays.  I loved to spoil you mom, in my simple way.  I so need you right now going through all this stuff.  Why did you have to go mommy?

Today a winner of Emilee's dress was drawn...and the winner is Dorthe - oh so happy honey that you will receive this from me, in my mama's name.

Texture, Fiber and Metal...Encaustic too!

I feel I'm on a little roll creating again.  I pulled out my encaustic medium, and that was the ticket for me to fly.  What I love about encaustic is the sticky consistency of it while it is wet.  Once cured, it has such a rich and unique luminous layer.

Oh, how I love those who are just like that.  I am thinking of someone right now, a friend who I feel so safe with.  Isn't that a treasure, even if we only even have one friend like that!  They are safe with you, and you with them.  I want to be that kind of friend to you.

I think I would have really enjoy knowing Ralph.  He was a deep thinker, and a feeler at heart.  My kind of people!

I think of a couple of friends right now who I love deeply, and believe they feel the same of me.  Old friends - those who know so much history - but still are there for you and you for them.

She reminds me a little of my friend J, looks wise.  But the woman she is, dauntless, I so admire.  I still remember her words that Sunday morn.....oh dear Lord above...I want to be more like her...dauntless I say!

This piece was created from two tins that I've attached.  Almost like a little mini metal book. 

The Door of Faith

Yes, life at times can really get overwhelming.  I have listen lately to so many, I mean many, who are having difficult times.  My heart so goes out to each and everyone of you.  I love that you share with me.  It comforts me.  It does.  As much as so many have been a comforter to me, I in return what to comfort.  That is my heart and always has been.

A lot went into this piece.  As I layered fiber upon fiber, I couldn't help but think of how life works.  So much happens in our lives.  Life can add so much but also take away.  God is working on me about the "taking away" (Paul's way) and I will soon do a piece about that.

"Agape" Altered Art Leather and Velvet

I think my two very favorite things to work with are hand dyed velvet and antique leather.  Oh, those two together make me want to dance.  Now offered in My Esty Shop.

Pictures do not do this justice at all.  It is really hard to capture the feel of this with my camera.  The inside is inlaid with more hand dyed velvet, including a heart that is removable.  It is representing God's heart and how he loves us with Agape- unconditional love!

I am pleased that we now have the second phase up and running (videos) in my online workshop "Dress Up".  I think "Millie's Nature Journey" dress came out really special  and I was so happy to share how I brought it together.  Thank you to all who have joined this workshop.  More to come.

I won't be teaching in Connecticut next month ,at ART-IS-You,  which makes me really sad.  But I'm excited that I did sign up to teach again next year.  I have made some dear friends there, and can't wait to see them again and make new ones too!  There is nothing like hanging out with your art friends!
