Nana's Attic

Offered in my Etsy Shop, this piece was created on a 12" x 12" deep edge canvas.  I have used original vintage photos, layerd fabrics to create frames and background, all aged; added metals and wire, paint and inks. 

As a little girl my grandmother (Nana) would take me up to her attic back in the Massachusetts's home.  I remember beings so sacred to go up there, but excited and would not miss the adventure for anything. 

I can't remember really why my grandmother would take me up to the attic.  I know she loved to give me things, like cat statues that I would adore, but those were in the house.  Funny that she collected cat stuff, as don't remember her ever having a cat.

 

While creating this piece, I remembered a lot of things about my grandmother.  I miss her very much.  She was the most loved person that I've ever met.  I was extremely blessed that she was in much life growing up.  Those memories put a smile on my heart that I will carry until the day I depart earth.  Thank you Nana for loving me the way you did.  Thank you for those attic adventures.  What I would do to take one of those now with adult eyes.  

A Little Girl and Her Dog

 

I just adore this vintage photo.  I am dedicating this to Maggie and Hannah, two doggies that died this week.  Makes my heart sad.  I dread the day I will have to say good-bye to my doggies.  I have never experienced that before.  My heart goes out to my friends who lost their pets recently.

I really like this piece done in vintage dark.  All of these are listed in my Etsy Shop.  I am calling this one "Hat Shop".  I adore hats and love winter so I can wear them.  These kids just look so adorable.

Hope you all had a great weekend.  All is calm around here.  We will be heading to San Francisco on Tuesday for a doctor's appointment for Ron.  Other than that, will be in my studio creating with my heart and soul.

Painted Dresses

This is what I've been doing for the last couple of days.  Someone commissioned me to do these five canvases.  It has been awhile since I've pulled out my paints.  I had a lot of fun.  The photos do not capture all the texture and dimension these have.  Some are similar to what I've done in the past, but with a little different twist here and there.

After much reflection this past week, I realized what a blessing blogging has been.  I have made so many wonderful connections around the world.  To have met many in person has been such a joy.  To know people care, and to care back,  be prayed for and to pray for others, encouragement, etc., I realize it does serve a purpose.  Of course, because creating is my full-time job, it is also a place to advertise my work.    I am thankful for the hundreds of pieces of art I have sold through Etsy and Ebay and privately.  I love offering online workshops to those who like what I do and want to give it a try also.  I believe in sharing because God is the one who has blessed me with any talent and it is not to hold on to tightly.  This has all been possible through the world of blogging.  I love taking online workshops too. 

I will fill the little pocket with some art making goodies.  Just leave a comment sharing why you love vintage items.  I often wonder why some of us are drawn to old things.  I like things that look a hundred years old, even if they are not.  But I like whimsical stuff too.  Leave me a way to contact you if I draw your name.
