It be MY Birthday Today!

This picture is of me on my first birthday.  My mom was pregnant with my sister, Nancy.  We are fifteen months apart.  I was the first born of four.  Every birthday I've made it a big deal with my mom, celebrating however old I was this day, was how long she had been a mother.  I miss her call today very much.   I miss telling her that today marks 52 years since she was a mother.  But I got to do that last year, just a few weeks before she departed earth.  On my 30th birthday I sent her 30 roses.  I pulled out my baby book today and scanned some pictures.  It is really fun to see them blown up for the first time.  I thought I would share some here with you today.  Oh, and notice the cake...it's an Italian Rum Cake...my very favorite to this day.  And the dress I'm wearing was brought back from Italy by my Nana.  I still have that dress.  It is so pretty, all wool.

My Second Birthday



That's my Nana holding me and my best cousin, Debbie.  Check out that doll cake.  I remember having many of those throughout the years, made by my Mommy.  I can't believe I'm wearing a summer outfit in January????  This is when I lived back in  Connecticut, so you know it was cold.

My Tenth Birthday



Too funny.  I remember how fun it was to have a birthday party.  I so remember that day very well. I remember that dress.  It had smocking on the top.  I think my mom made me that dress.  It was blue and white.  Funny how we remember certain things from our past.

Just thought I would share.  I'm not as sad as I thought I would be today.  So many have already made my birthday special, and to you, thank you so very much.

But sigh, I am now 52 years old!!!  Okay, I know, 52 years young!  Indeed, my heart will forever be young and I refuse to grow up!!!

and I'll end with this picture with my mommy one Christmas day.  I wish I still had that blond hair!  Oh, and I LOVED this dress so much.  It's blue and a real party dress.

Creating ART to Wear

I have longed to create jewelry.  I'm finally getting in the mode.  Those that know me, know that this has been a long time desire of mine.  I created four necklaces.  My camera battery died, so until it's charged up, I can't take more pictures to list these on Etsy.  But they will be there.  Maybe tomorrow when the sun comes out.

Fit For A Queen ART Bottles

What a fun week I had.  TWO of my best friends came to visit me and played in my art room.  What more could a girl ask for!  First Cathy, then Geri.  Geri and I played with antique bottles, wax and solder.  I made the larger bottle and she made the smaller one.  I just love the glamor of these and that is why I'm calling them "Fit for a Queen".

I love adding the feet to these bottles.  They give it a grand feel to them. 



I also created another dress form and it is offered in my etsy shop.  I love the materials I used in this one.  Who doesn't love hand dyed turquoise velvet!!!

the names were all written on paper

then I told Cathy (Cathleen LeVeque) my special dear friend since we've been twenty one years old, that she was going to pick...and off she went to put some makeup on.  Okay, we have both been in the same clothes since yesterday...too funny...but Cath looks so beautiful with or without makeup


 She tells Burton to sit, her doggie that is the sweetest in the world.

CONGRATS DEENA.... Cathy and I, both breast cancer survivors, smile, that you won.  I told her your story after she picked your name.  May this doll remind you that wishes, dreams and prayers do come true!!!!

And Deena, I always wanted Cathy's hair, naturally curly.  I got it from chemo.  I call my hair, Cathy's hair, though not as beautiful as hers, I'm enjoying the time allotted to me to have curls.
