Time to let go...Take Me as I Am Collage Canvas

okay, I know I shared this one before and said I was keeping it, but I've decided to let it go.

Mini ART Dolls on Canvas

I have used a mini canvas 3" x 3" to create this art doll on.  I'm just loving this size.  It's so much harder to work small, but I love the results.  All the pieces are German Bisque doll parts.  I've repainted the face to look like a China Doll with my special glaze.  Even the flowers look like glass.

I have also created this little piece on a 2" x 2", making it a wearable piece of art.

Would you wear something like this?  I just adore it and am keeping this one.  I plan to make many more.

We are off to So. California tomorrow.  I so need a break.  I work 7 days a week, all the time, without a day off.  Lindsay is in town, Ron's 30th class reunion is happening and a 50th birthday party for his brother, so we are off.  Plus my girlfriend, Cathy, has a place we can stay at in Laguna Beach, my favorite beach town.  His class reunion is in the next town over, Newport Beach.  My friend Nancy is going to stay here and watch our doggies.  It will be a quick trip, but well worth it.

Sorry that our collage sheets are not on the website yet.  We've decided to rearrange our site to make it more like a shop, so soon, very soon it they will be up.  I hope tonight before we leave, but Ron can work on this while we are away.

New Collage Sheets

I am delighted to announce that Gale from Paper Whimsy has given me the honor to create some little painted paper doll dresses for the Whimsy Kids. This is Hannah Honeypot, a Paper Whimsy gal  wearing her new brownish black velvet dress.    If you haven't play with PW images, you are missing out.  Gale had found the most darling images over the years and offers them on collage sheets.  I have created many pieces using her images and they are always a big hit.  Hannah is one of my absolute favorites.

  I have had this label for at least 25 years, if not longer.  I just love it and somehow it has made it with me in my travels over the years.

 

I am still trying to find what these words say.  I hear they are a German greeting.  Anyone know?

I really do enjoy designing collage sheets and have so many more ideas to come.  Meanwhile, I'm excited to try something I've had in my head.  Just got the supplies so I'm going to give it try.  We shall see if it works.

Faithful

Five years ago today...

my daddy went to heaven.  Five months ago my mom did too.  It is sometimes overwhelming, feeling the loss of now both my parents.  I miss them so much.  I was very close to both of them.  Life seems empty without them in so many ways.  Yes, I have the memories, but it is not the same as having them alive, here on earth.  Today I am crying some extra tears.

My dad had cancer.  They gave him six months to live but he really only had six days.  It was shocking at the time.  Our escrow had closed on our home in Orange County (So. Calif.) and we moved up north where we are today, five years on the 23rd of this month.  My dad was doing well when we left but that very night he went into a coma like state.  As soon as we got word we drove back down to where my dad was living (at my sister's house in Riverside County) and he died the next day.  Both my parents died in my sister's house.  Kind of strange but wonderful, really.  They were at the location that our family gathered for many occasions.

My dad was a family man.  He loved his four kids more than anything in this world and would do anything for each of us.  I can't count how many times my dad bailed me out of some financial crisis when I was younger.  I have tons of cards and sweet letters and notes my dad sent me.  He was always thinking of his kids, and then later, his grandkids. 

If I could, I would visit his graveside today.  He was buried at the Veterans Memorial Park in Riverside, California, as he served in the Korean War, a Marine, a Sargent.  But it is 8 hours away and that is not possible, but I visit him through pictures, my memories and here on my blog.
